Laurence Chalip is an Associate Professor in the School of Marketing and Management at Griffith University, where he convenes the Sport Management major and serves as Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies for the School. Prior to joining Griffith University, he served as director of the graduate program in sport management at the University of Maryland. He has worked extensively in the Olympic Movement, including assignments with the International Anthropology Project at the Los Angeles Olympic Games and, subsequently, as a member of the Seoul Organising Committee for Olympic Cultural Performance and Research. He has been a lecturer at the International Olympic Academy and the Olympic Museum, and was named to the International Chair of Olympism by the Centre for Olympic Studies. He is on the editorial ] board of seven academic journals, and serves as foundation editor of Sport Management Review. His research has been supported by university grants as well as grants from the Gerald R. Ford Foundation, Hankook Ilbo, Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation, the Australian Research Council, and the CRC for Sustainable Tourism.
